Make your words fly. Do your writing justice, invest time into learning how to voice your work with confidence, authenticity and connection. Your voice matters, your story matters, make sure that when you speak people will listen.
There are a plethora of people out there offering vocal coaching. My aim when I work with writers and authors is to help you find your unique voice. This work is about learning what makes a great performance by connecting with your voice. I am a coach with a genuine passion for helping people to tell their own story, in their own voice.
Are you a Self-publishing author recording your own audiobook, an author being asked by your publisher to voice your own book, a poet or spoken word artist preparing to perform live or a writer new to performing who wants to lift their words off the page?
Common fears for anyone about to perform include;
- Do you feel out of your depth
- Do you 'hate the sound of your own voice’
- Do you worry you may ruin your work
- Do you worry that it may sound boring
- Fear of ruining the work with a poor performance
- Fear of feeling indulgent or
- The overwhelming number of new skills required (cadence, pacing, character, timing…)
- Feeling out of depth, even with some performance experience
Solution
A Coaching Experience Built Around You and Your Writing - coaching - personally tailored coaching to help you optimise your vocal performance and do your audiobook justice.
Differentiator
These sessions are about your unique voice. They are about creating connection, managing the fears and worries you personally feel around performing/ reading your work, and creating a toolbox to make the very best read possible. These are not generic voice classes for someone training to become an actor or audiobook reader. These sessions are about empowering you to speak your truth, your story, so that your story and your truth can be heard.
What you’ll develop on this course
The course will cover the delivery of your work with cadence, character, pacing, timing and emotional connection. The key to great performance is connection, to oneself and to one’s audience. The awareness of the audience, the importance of your listener is essential, the course and all the work that Charlie does as a storyteller hinges around making the audience our friend, our confidante, colleague and family.

About Charlie
As a facilitator and coach, I want to offer a place where everyone has the chance to finesse their live/ recorded storytelling skills. Having been a performer for thirty years, I know that the key to any performance is to flow and to connect, and to do that, you need to be comfortable with yourself. To deeply feel the value of your voice and your story, and to embody your work with confidence and truth.
As a facilitator, I empower the people I work with to consider themselves as artists. I believe we all have a story to tell. I have huge respect for anyone who has the courage and tenacity to pick up a pen and write. It is so brave because every time you step onto a stage, speak into a microphone, or pick up a pen, there is always the risk that what you do will not be received well. When we take that step with confidence, good planning and an understanding of the craft of performance and ourselves, that is when our humanity connects us to our audiences humanity and our story can truly take flight.
