Before London, I wrote and performed in children’s and community theatre across the Midlands in the UK, plays aiming to inspire change, laughter and empowerment in hard to reach, poor, rural and inner city hubs. This is where I learnt how powerful stories are and how they can enrich people’s lives and self-confidence.

I went on to work as a clown and puppeteer across the South of England with Theatre & Entertainment companies, in Hospice centres for children, Educational groups, Charities and a few big UK and USA celebs. Captain Katie is one of the characters I played during that time.

Working across so many wildly different social groups, communities and venues is an experience that informs my voice work enormously. Often when I read a character I find myself being reminded of a person, a child or community I have met in my past work as a performer. I’m not really a text book actor, I’m a seen it, lived it, got the t shirt storyteller.

In lockdown I wrote comedy, poetry and mucked about with puppets, which, when we were all allowed out again, got me a job with the award winning puppet company ‘Scratchbuilt Entertainment’. John Wright workshopped the show, and we did some seriously wild promenade improvisation with kids under six at Christmas, here are a couple of the works in progress from that time.

Pooh Bear Heart, spoken word

Song for the NHS, puppet clowning

Yorkshire Stan, puppet play

Covid sweary comedy, finger puppet
